If Miller does not re-sign now I think he has to go. There is still talk of Milwaukee wanting to move Sessions for tax purposes despite the big numbers he is putting up lately, there are young PG's in Memphis and Portland, or we could take back a veteran PG, some cap relief and a draft pick this year that will help us grab a developmental prospect at PG this summer. Yes it would be nice to see how far this team can go with Miller this year, but long term it would be be bad news.

If I am Stefanski, and Miller and his agent do not want to talk about an extension, then if there is any kind of deal out there that makes sense, you simply have to do it. The FA crop of PG's this summer looks weak, and you certainly cannot expect a rookie PG that we draft around 18-20 to be ready to be a 35mpg PG for a team that has its eyes set on getting to the EC finals. This is the perfect opportunity to bring a new guy in...let him play with the team for 30 games (and hopefully a round of the playoffs), and then be ready to hit the ground running with Brand in September.

We have already burned one year of Brand's deal. If Miller walks this summer and we are counting on a rookie PG, a MLE stop-gap or Ivey/Lou to be our PG next season, we will probably burn another year of Brand's deal as well.

Reports out of Chicago that Paxson is either resigning or was fired...not good for Hinrich's availability...Reinsdorf is a Hinrich fan and not particularly enamored with giving Gordon major $$$...

Damn.

If we can get Sessions + Filler for Miler then the team has to make that move. Sessions might not have a long range jumper, but he at least demands the defenses attn as a scorer and is a good, young PG.

I really don't want to see Stefanski have to use the MLE for a PG this summer. Ideally that money should be put towards a shooter.

Agreed...but if we don't have Miller or make a trade by the deadline, he will have no choice...

It's weird but to me, either Sam or Miller have to go. If you keep Sam and Miler, then Miller walks this summer and we don't have the space to get a replacement. If you deal Sam (for expirings although SF76 says that's not happening) then you would have some cap space when Miller walks and a chance to go get a new PG.

If Sam can't be dealt, then Miller has got to go. The worst thing we can do is nothing since that would leave us with a huge hole at PG and very limited options on how we can address it.

A Saturday morning trade rumor for you....was told this last night.

Sam Dalembert and Willie Green for Tyson Chandler and Rasual Butler. We may also have to send a pick.....Green and Butler were filler...could also be 1 for 1-Dalembert for Chandler.

We are trying to get Devin Brown in the deal...willing to move Jason Smith if that happens.

They will talk more leading into deadline. But this one actually has a chance guys..stay tuned.

Interesting deal...if Chandler stays healthy, he's an upgrade over Sammy (very similar, but a bit better). Rasual Butler gives you a longer shooter over Green. Not sure I'd give up Smith for a smaller SG who is really having a down year. Thanks for the update...hope this would be coupled with something for Miller as well...

As long as its not a 1st? Do they go back to Iguodala at the 2, Young at the 3, and start Speights? Or does Lou start at the 2?

How does that help us? Other than Chandler being a little smarter than Dalembert and Butler being a little taller than WG?

I mean, they have almost identical contracts, what is the benefit to us? Or are we throwing it into a 3-way that gets us expirings?

Expiring deals do nothing for the Sixers...I think it's simply the IQ and length that is appealing. They are about the same age (Sam/Chandler), but I think Chandler could be an upgrade longer term. It would be interesting.

In fact, the more I think about this deal, the more I dislike it.

I feel like it is a move, just to make a move. It doens't help or hurt us, which is why it is stupid to do it and disrupt any kind of team chemistry we might have right now.

Blah.

Chandler has gotten more hype over the past couple years playing with CP3, but I think they are a wash talent-wise. Sam is the better shotblocker, while Chanlder is a slightly better rebounder and a little less mistake prone.

I like the Green for Butler part because we could really use a shooter.

I think if we can get expiring deals for Sammy AND Willie, and then let Miller walk, it creates a big opportunity for at least making a small play in Free Agency, or taking on bigger deals in trades for the right person.

Think about it...Sammy makes what, 11Mill? Miller makes 10? Green makes 3?

Letting 24 million come off the books this offseason would certainly make us a competitor at least in the trade market. I'm no cap expert, but ESPN's trade machine says we are 8 mill over the cap. 8-24 is 16 mill over the cap...right?

Lateral move at best. Chandler has an ETO in 2010/11 according to Sham but since he'll be making 13 million that year, I doubt he exercises it. Butler has one year less on his contract than Green, but trading Smith seems like a high price to pay for that.

Similar players in Chandler and Dalembert, but like others said, he makes a few less mistakes and with Iguodala and Miller around, he should get just as many alley-oops thrown his way. The other part that may be intriguing for Philly might be that R. Butler has one less year on his deal than Green, plus he's a decent 3 point shooter.
