Jay isn't being judged on win-loss.

-- Hasn't decided on Triano
-- Says he will sit down at the end of the year and make the recommendation to the board at the right time
-- Jay has done a "real solid job given the circumstances he's been put in"
-- Not judging based on W/L record
-- Judging on his message, and the way Triano interacts with players
-- Knows Triano has respect of players
-- It would be hard to bring everybody together, but now that we're healthy, Chris is tuned in more than ever, Jose is healthy and finally seemingly over that mental hurdle of knowing that he's going to extend himself, everything is coming together

-- Seems like we're going to end the season strong, thinks that's a very good thing
-- But Jay wasn't being judged on just that
-- It's a body of work, everything he's been doing
-- Given the circumstances, the injuries, the in-season trade, he's been dealt a bad hand and he's kept his chin up through it all and handled himself great
-- Those are all very good signs

Bobcat has been very critical of the team and indirectly at BC this season, and now that he had him on the show he didn't even ask him any tough questions.

Looks he will he acknowledge that the team did finish the season strong, but he'll look at the body of work throughout this season in making decisions in the offseason. That's basically the main point that I got out of that interview.
Also, it looks like he's going to try to acquire another pick.

I hope he is just selling the potential of this team to the public because Chicago, OKC, LAC and Milwaukee...
Triano doesn't seem to get respect from the refs, I wont be so excited next year if he is back as head coach. Love that he is Canadian, but I just wont be.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

He seemed a bit inconsistent on the second part. With one breath, he seemed to say there was no one worthwhile beyond the 20 spot, but then he said there were a few people he really liked in the 12-25 area. So I'm not sure what he has up his sleeve, which I guess is business as usual.

Thanks for the recaps guys.
Will Jay come back if Smitch finds a new job? How long can one be an interim coach? After the season's over? Does he get paid assistant coach salary for next season if he comes back? Anyone have the answers? Thanks.

And as far as the draft is concerned, I wouldn't be surprised if he targets guys like Gerald Henderson, Terrence Williams, DeJuan Blair, and Stephen Curry--just based on his comment that he likes guys in the 12-25 range...I can see all of those guys slip a little bit into that range, maybe with the exception of Curry.

Re: Bryan Colangelo on Fan590 @5:06
If Bobcat had more time and if BC wasn't running the interview, he could ask real questions.
Why was Sam fired after 17 games? Probably to salvage the season. Was Jay able to salvage the season? No. Then how can BC say Jay has done a good job?
If Jay had no chance with all these "circumstances", then Sam might as well have stayed on.
But anyways.....
Let's not get too excited about the $3M to buy a pick. Who's a player that might drop in the draft who would be worth purchasing the pick? I think of Marcus Williams a couple of years ago. We would get all excited over some guy who flames out. I'm not doubting they'd use the money to buy a pick. But I think it's more likely if it's rebuild time, like if Bosh is leaving. But if the plan is to bring back mostly the same crew, then it won't be worth it buying the pick this year and letting some guy ride the bench next year.

Bottom line is Jay did a good job in giving Bargs and Joey the opportunity to succeed, which is what BC has wanted from SMitch for years. Doesn't mean Jay should still be the head coach next year but as for doing his job well this year, that would be the major reason.

I think that's what BC was implying in a roundabout way. I decipher BC's blabbering as "I really don't want Jay back as head coach but I'm waiting around to see if Sam gets another job so we can stop paying most of his salary and I have the financial freedom to hire who I want. But just in case Sam is still unemployed then I think Jay is a good coach and can't be judged on his win\loss record because I might be stuck with him next year"
