C'mon, bro...
If we are going to stay at 17, I guess that I would be OK with Lawson...but if you are going to use the MLE on Korver, then you have made your bet - Lawson is your PG of the future. He's small, doesn't have much of a rep as a defender, and you are banking on his ability to shoot from distance in the NBA. Could he turn out to be another Jameer Nelson? Maybe...but I'm not comfortable with just sitting there and hoping that the guy to falls to us at 17 is the most important addition that this team needs.
Korver would be a nice person to add, but how many minutes can you give him? How many minutes can you play him? He can probably play some minutes with Iggy at the 2 and Thad at the 4...but I don't see the addition of Lawson and Korver to the rotation leading to an improvement in our perimeter defense...do you? Korver would be nice to add, but given our needs at PG (particularly if Miller walks), I'm not feeling comfortable with putting all of our eggs in Lawson's basket - which is what you would be doing if you don't use the MLE on a PG.
I guess I am resigned to Sammy staying - unless some GM decides to be stupid.
I am still of the opinion that we need to be more aggressive to fill the PG slot...use Speights to make something happen...and - if his price comes down - use the MLE on Rasheed (maybe he'll give us a home-town discount)...I think he would be an upgrade over Sammy, and he would give us another shooter in the lineup.
Hey Bop -
Want to correct a few issues. Lawson is actually a very good defender, especially on the ball and the passing lanes. He would be very good here. Him and Dala as a guard tandem would be very good. As far as the PG spot, the Princeton offense does not need a conventional PG.
