As per the Sixers not talking to Parker, I'm under the impression they don't think he does things other than shoot well enough to make him worthwhile with the MLE. Maybe Stefanski wants to wait and see if he can somehow unload Dalembert before using the MLE.

If they don't like Parker, and haven't contacted Murray, then who are they planning to spend the MLE on? Price won't command all of it, if any of it. We might be able to get him for the vet min even.

My prediction for Sixers' opening-night starters: Williams, Iguodala, Young, Brand and Dalembert. I know Jordan said Iguodala would begin as a forward, but he'll change his mind. Don't really like Williams at the point, but I think he'll get his chance this year.

Maybe Stefanski plans on waiting to see if a sign-and-trade materializes with Miller, which would negate the MLE, or if a deal miraculously appears involving Dalembert.

Waiting for Andre Miller is stupid, because if it fails, then you miss out on free agents.

It's certainly possible, but I wouldn't want to rely on a 19-year-old kid at the point for 30-35 minutes a night immediately. Would need to share the job first, then see how he reacts.

Oh certainly...I just don't think it a 3 year wait.

Also Brand is not Webber.

That may turn out to be true. But what if you use the MLE, then find out a Miller sign-and-trade could help you, except you can't do it because you'd be in luxury-tax territory?

So I would think nothing new and exciting for the rest of this offseason. Atleast we should be happy with Jrue Holiday.

That's true, but I think the chances that a trade materializes out of nowhere are unlikely. It also depends on how long they'll wait. Until monday? Until next friday? 3 weeks?

So if we sign or trade for noone, we're going to have Lou Williams starting at PG?

Miller won't be back, we have to forget him. Sixers had to trade him in February.

About Elton Brand, Sixers don't want to trade him but.... Sixers will receive a possible three-team deal (most likely): Brand to Utah, Boozer to Chicago and Hinrich to Philly. If Millsap signs a new deal with Utah Jazz, they won't ask for Elton (obviously).

I really wouldn;t be opposed with Lou starting. Because it will easily show weakness and maybe gives Jrue a chance to step it up. Just like what Thad did in his rookie season.

It would be interesting to see how he responds to this. It is kinda something I wanted to see anyways, hope it happens for half a season

Agreed that we need to start Lou and forget about Miller. The Miller era has come and gone. He was a PG designed for a win-it-all team, not a team in the rebuilding mode. Ditto for Brand at PF - another piece that now seems horribly out of place. This team needs to commit to the youth and commit to building a team for the future; that entails taking some really hard lumps over the next few years while we mature and ES HAS to be willing to accept this and let our younger guys finally get the experience they need.

That's the best long-term plan, but it could cost Stefanski his job if they don't win a round in 2010. It's a tough balancing act. I agree that Speights should've played in Games 3 and 4 vs. the Magic -- at home, no less.

Yeah, the young guys are getting experience. PLAYOFF experience. Both Iguodala and Young have hit game winning shots in the playoffs. It would be dumb for them to not build on that. We're building a young team that has tasted winning. If you take that away from them now by tanking, it would be a horrible decision.

That is a possibility. Once the Turkoglu situation in Portland is determined, it's time to accelerate the process and find out if the Portland sign-and-trade is a legit option.

other question is..if lou is your PG....you get a backup thru vet min.....what do you use the MLE on...every other position is two deep

lou/vet min/jrue
iguodala/green
thad/kapono
brand/speights
sam/smith
