this thread proves the crush people have on scorers. Evans is far ahead of Curry as a basketball player. not even remotely close.

I think our rookie Evans has this locked up due to consistency but that isn't taking anything away from curry. Curry is a beast, this draft has been nothing short of amazing in my eyes. It's funny how everyone thought it was supposed to be Griffin/Rubio or bust.

Agree with everything, especially the bold part. If you told me before the season that I would agree with that statement shortly after the All-Star break, I probably would have laughed at you. I thought he was going to be a Jason Terry type of player once all was said and done, but he showed a lot more than that. I also would have never thought that Evans was going to be that good, especially in his first season.

As far as ROY, for me it was

1. Griffin
2. Flynn
3. Evans
4. Jennings
5. Curry/Harden

Right now it's

1a. Evans
1b. Curry (if he keeps this up they should have a tie)
2. Jennings
3. Flynn
4a/b. Collison/Lawson
5a/b. Casspi/Gibson

I think Curry will be the best player of those guys, a 19/4/8.5 PG on a playoff team (those numbers might dip slightly if he goes to another team of course, maybe to 19/3.5/7, but he could also have better numbers should Golden State not become a much better team) with great efficiency (48 % FG, 40+ % 3PT FG, 90 % FT, A/TO ratio over 2.5). A better Mike Bibby, worse passing Steve Nash or a Chauncey Billups. That sounds right, a Chauncey/Nash hybrid: Clutchness (not to the extent of Billups/Nash, but still pretty clutch), close to Nash's shooting efficiency, a defensive game somewhat in between of the two (=solid), great ability to take over games, as a facilitator closer to Chauncey than to Nash, etc. Overall I think he could be as good as Chauncey.

I see Evans' ceiling as a 23/5/5 player on a playoff team, which at first probably sounds better to many than 19/4/8.5. This would make him the 4th best SG right behind Wade, Kobe and Roy in a few years.
Curry as I said before could be a Chauncey Billups type of PG IMO, so there could be an argument made that he will be more valuable to a team. I just think he is more of a winner, less ball-dominant, can create better for others (and he will get even better at that) and is a better leader than Evans (who also has proven to be a good leader himself). But that's just my personal opinion.

Pretty good assessment, except Curry will be nowhere near the defender that Billups is but probably better than Nash as you pointed out. Evans by far has him beat on the defensive end but should be guarding 2 guards and not points who he might have a little trouble with. Overall good analysis.

Curry and Collison have been doing very welll lately. But Evans has been solid all season long and I think he's basically got ROY locked up.

I don't see how ppl are saying they think curry is or will end up being the better player. I don't think that statement is true at all, I think they are very different players that will be great in very different ways. I think together they would be an awesome backcourt and would compliment each other very well.

I still think Evans wins, just because he's been so good since the start. Curry has come on like a gangbuster the last two months. If he can keep this up until the end, I think it might be a 60-40 decision. But I think Evans, barring any injuries would win.

Why no love for Blair? I think he could arguably end up 3rd over Jennings, Flynn, Collison and Lawson.

Haha I also like the norcal rivalry, i'm excited to see who the warriors and kings draft this year. First we had the ellis/martin debate, then randolph/thompson and now curr/evans. Whats next favors/cousins, wall/turner or maybe a turner/johnson? Either way both teams have bright futures, should be fun to watch as they develop.

It's basic integral calculus.

Curry is the blue line, Evans is the Purple one.

So Curry gets credit for not doing as well as Evans' early in the season?

That logic=fail.

Evans, but I think Curry can make it close if he gets the warriors to win some more games. both are playing excellent basketball and I actually think Curry will be better than Monta in a year or two.

I'm not a fan of black holes/overdribbling. Tyreke's game is to the pound the ball and then drive to the rim or FT line. It's exactly how he played in high school and college and he's carried it over here.

To me Tyreke's style is just crappy basketball. It's good for 20/5/5 stats, ROYs, and getting paid... winning games, not so much. The other 4 guys on the floor will continue to have a limited role as long as Tyreke plays this way. And when players aren't involved in the play they are less prone to giving a crap

If Tyreke gets a jumpshot he can be a Johnson/Roy like player or even better, but right now his form is terrible so we'll see where this goes

Fair Enough. but thats a personal preference. Curry is great shooter. But Evans has the ability to dominate in the paint offensively and free up the shooters, Evans gets high percentage shots in the half court even without jump shot.and hes a half court player and thats whats wins in the playoffs.

Sure he over dribble and take his time on offense, but thats whats half court players do, thats why Fans consider Duncan boring, but thats doesn't mean hes not effective.

Evans is defense going to separate him from the rest of these players...

I'm obviously biased as a Kings fan but to me this isn't even remotely close. Evans blew away Curry for the first 2 months of the season and even now, when Curry is on a tear, their numbers (for the past 2 months) are a tossup:

Curry
January: 19/5/4.4, 48%/89%, 2 steals, 2.7 TOs
February: 20/7.3/5, 47%/94%, 1.8 steals, 4.1 TOs

Evans
January: 20.7/5.1/3.5, 44.8%/82.4%, 1.6 steals, 2.4 TOs
February: 18.6/6.8/5.9, 50.4%/65.5%, 1.4 steals, 3.6 TOs

I'd also add that Evans has singlehandedly won games for the Kings. The game against Denver when he hit the game winner, against Washington on national TV, and most recently against the Knicks @ MSG.

Even as a Warriors fan, this year's ROY should go to Evans, hands down. Curry looks like he might be a great PG, but 'Reke has superstar written all over him.

I love Evans and am 99% sure he will win the ROY, but Dr. Mufasa is right in that he pounds the balls way too much for my liking at this point. He's like a young Baron, except he doesn't chuck it from the outside after 10-15 secs of dribbling. If he keeps doing this as he progresses it could lead to problems in the future with his teammates. If he wants to win in the future going to have to control this aspect of his game a bit.
