Than Seattle? Absolutely not.

Jacksonville I don't care about. We don't need 3 teams in Florida.

There's no point in putting a team in Tampa with the Magic nearby.

That’s kind of like saying, “there’s no point having the Clippers when we already have the Lakers.”

No, it's actually not at all.

For a million historic, economic, and logistical reasons.

They aren't ever going to put a team in Tampa so long as the Magic are right down the road. The Magic are effectively Tampa's team as far as the NBA is concerned.

If and when history proves me wrong(it won't) then we can waste time about the NBA in Tampa.

You’re just repeating yourself.

If Los Angeles had no NBA team, do you LA fans would support one in Palm Springs? Do you think the NBA would be content with just a fraction of the large Los Angeles market?

Perhaps you don’t understand the dollars involved here. The Tampa market is about equal to NOP, SAS and OKC .. combined. The NBA isn’t going to just be happy with a fraction of such a large (and growing) market.

Like I said, Vegas and Seattle are the clear cut first two. But probably the next most viable American city for an NBA franchise is Tampa-St Pete.

LA is a market of almost 20 million people, comparing it to Tampa is apples and oranges. You compared Tampa to 3 of the smallest markets in the league. There is no data or information to backup any of your other claims.

Silver said that there are "couple of cities in the US" that the NBA will look at first. It's expected those cities will include Seattle and Las Vegas. Silver was asked about international expansion. He said that Vancouver and Mexico City remain in consideration for NBA involvement.

Silver added that Montreal has reached out to the NBA to express interest in an expansion team. Silver talked about how rapidly the game of basketball has grown in Canada. He also mentioned how successful the league has been with the now-annual Mexico City game, as well as the G League presence in Mexico City.

LeBron's retirement gift for himself should be to get a team in Vegas. That would be awesome.

It looks like there is a lot of pushback against the A's getting public funding in Vegas. I wonder if this will affect potential NBA expansion.

NBA is much more popular than the MLB.

Shouldn't be a problem funding for the NBA. Vegas is basically the main attraction for NBA stars.

Presumably an NBA team would play in the same arena as the Golden Knights (much as a Seattle expansion team would share the Kraken arena) so they really shouldn't need any public money. They may try and ask for it anyways.

Hasn't the general idea been that an NBA team will get it's own arena?

I want 4 teams. Let's really get cooking. They can be phased in. 2 teams first. Then 2 more later. There's plenty of talent.

The thing is, the TV deal is now done, so what's the incentive for owners to agree to expansion?

I am intrigued by the idea of Kansas City getting a team again, esp capitalising on tbe Chiefs/Tay Tay and Travis hype.

I am wondering if it is possible that NBA expands in to Europe...

No, it's not. Too much travel, too big of a difference in time zones, and a lot of players wouldn't want to live there.

I do agree with you that travel and time zones could be a problem, but I don't agree with you that players wouldn't want to live in Europe.

Montreal easily could. They have the arena for it, it's the biggest city (according to metro pop) without a team, basketball has skyrocketed in the past years is now perhaps the most popular sport with the youth. It gives french countries a team that "represents" them. Montreal has been listed best city to live in multiple times. It's an easy win/win situation for the NBA.

Do you have some personal stake or are you just arguing for the sake of it? The LA market is 4x that of Tampa Bay. Not to mention the media & entertainment angle. Chicago will get a 2nd NBA frachise before Tampa Bay ever gets its 1st. What a joke of an argument, when you have the Magic nearby.
