with Russell Martin coming back, I must say, that first of all, we are only paying about 3.6 mil of his salary. secondly, his OBP was pretty damn good still last season. lastly, these salary dumping has a purpose. I believe his name is Corey Kluber.
ehhhhh f it.

So Pollock, huh? I get the reasons behind signing him, but not really sure I fully understand this particular move...

Is he one of many OFs we potentially have and a decent right hand bat?
Or was this to solve our CF problem? If it's the latter, I'm concerned given his injury history and that his bat was not all that last year. Could move CT3 to 2B though.
Friedman has continuously made low risk/ high upside moves and taken on the oft-injured as a part of that. I remember they thought Brandon McCarthy could be healthy if he switched his lifting regiment. Doctors said Brett Anderson had only a 10% chance of re-injuring his back. $1 million deal to Brandon Beachy whose arm never came back.
So I'm under no delusion that just because we have done our due diligence on oft-injured players, that we have some special sauce to help them get past their injury woes.

Agreed, but even injuries aside, this doesn't feel like the kind of deal we need to make to get us an actual World Series Win...
In fact, I keep waiting for the moves that indicate this org isn't satisfied with simply being in the pennant race every year...

Completely agree. I've said this before, but I think this organization is shooting for a 90s Braves scenario. Lots of pennants. Lots of playoff series wins. Maybe we get a ring out of it all.
We have not punched in and made THEE move.
I dunno if that move is out there.
Kluber? Realmuto? These are the guys we are linked to.

Machado, 10yrs/300M to Padre's... I'm just relieved he's not an option anymore.

So what's Harper going to get?
Read somewhere that attendance for all of MLB declined, dropping to just over 30k per game.
Yet heard that their revenues are up? Ratings for the last postseason, including the WS featuring two big markets and two of the biggest franchises in history were also low.

I actually like him sitting out to save his arm, same goes for Young Walker too.
this way we start off the season with Hill-Ryu-Maeda-Stripling-Urias, I would like to see if Ross can replicate last season's early success, and give consistent starts to Julio.
come playoff time, hopefully we have healthy and fresh Kersh and Buehler to go along with whomever the top 2 pitchers we have from the opening day rotation.
ehhhhh f it.

Pre-surgery Urias was younger and had better overall "stuff" than Walker, I have high hopes.

Peyton is unlikely to start opening day.
Mother nature is instituting a changing of the guard for the Dodgers.
Btw, I'm in Phoenix for Spring Training. Went out to Goodyear to see us play the Reds yesterday.
So cool.
Got to see Julio pitch to Russell Martin. Saw JT, Turner, Verdugo.
I will be back every year.
