Lithuania guard Kasparas Jakucionis has committed to the University of Illinois. Jakucionis is considered one of the top international guards heading to a United States college, and he's a potential first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The 6-foot-6 guard has appeared in five games for Barcelona across various competitions over the last two seasons. Across multiple different competition, with Barcelona and their youth team, Jakucionis averaged 17.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists.
Jakucionis is just one of what is expected to be several international players to commit to playing college basketball in the United States. The advent of NIL deals has made collegiate basketball a more attractive path for foreign-born players than it used to be.
Basketball legend Bill Walton, who led the UCLA Bruins to two national titles before winning two championships during his NBA career, has died at the age of 71 after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Walton died Monday while surrounded by his loved ones, his family said in a statement released by the NBA.
"Bill Walton was truly one of a kind," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement.
DJ Wagner has chosen to follow John Calipari to Arkansas. Wagner, who entered the transfer portal when Calipari left Kentucky, will now follow suit.
A former top-five recruit, Wagner is one of three former Wildcats to join Calipari on the Razorbacks. Adou Thiero and Zvonimir Ivisic are also headed to Arkansas. Calipari also got recruits Boogie Fland, Karter Knox and Billy Richmond to flip to Arkansas too.
In addition to the above, the Razorbacks are adding transfers Johnell Davis from Florida Atlantic and Jonas Aidoo from Tennessee.
Green Bay hired Doug Gottlieb as their new head coach on Tuesday.
"It is an honor beyond measure to be named the 10th men's basketball coach in UWGB history. Every kid has a dream growing up -- some want to be a firefighter, others want to be president. I have always wanted to be a head basketball coach at the Division I level," said Gottlieb in a statement.
Gottlieb, a media personality for ESPN, CBS, and Fox Sports, has never had a college coaching job before.
Gottlieb will reportedly continue hosting his Fox Sports show while coaching Green Bay.
Great Osobor was the best player remaining in the NCAA transfer portal. He's chosen to follow his head coach, Danny Sprinkle, to the University of Washington for his senior season. Osobor also reportedly has $2 million in NIL deals lined up for next season.
The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 17.7 points for Utah State last season, after transferring from Montana State. Sprinkle originally recruited Osobor to Montana State, before both moved to Utah State for one season.
Osobor, who was born and raised in England, will join a strong recruiting and transfer class for the Huskies. In addition to scoring 17.7 points, Osobor also averaged 9.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. He has one season of NCAA eligibility remaining for Washington.
The NBA held its 2024 draft lottery in Chicago on Sunday with the Atlanta Hawks winning the top overall pick. The Hawks entered the lottery with just a three percent chance of securing the top pick.
Trent Perry, a McDonald's All-American, announced his commitment to UCLA.
Perry had originally committed to USC, though he reopened his commitment after Andy Enfield left the Trojans.
Perry is ranked No. 27 in the ESPN 100 for his class.
"What attracted me was that there's a good opportunity to turn things around after this past season, and I want to do that for my hometown," said Perry.
Danny Manning joined the Colorado Buffaloes coaching staff as an assistant on Tuesday.
The 57-year-old Manning played with head coach Tad Boyle at Kansas.
Manning was an associate head coach with Louisville for the last two seasons.
Colorado won 26 games last year and appeared in the NCAA tournament.
Former Kentucky Wildcat Adou Thiero announced his transfer to Arkansas on Monday.
Thiero is a projected first-round pick in 2025.
"He's known for putting guys in the NBA that also stay in the NBA and coach Kenny Payne, who is now with him again, was also there for some of those years," said Thiero of rejoining John Calipari.
Thiero is the fifth player to join Calipari from Kentucky.
