Andrew Bynum practiced three-on-three with the Indiana Pacers this week, and Frank Vogel is optimistic the veteran center will be able to play soon.
"The goal is to get him to the point where he's able to play every night," Vogel said. "We don't want him to play one game and sit three games."
Bynum signed with the Pacers as a free agent Feb. 1 and last played Dec. 26 for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"We know what we can expect from him when he's healthy and in shape. He's one of the best centers in the NBA," Vogel said. "We've seen flashes of that in practice that he's shown here."
Gustavo Ayon had surgery on Friday to repair a right shoulder injury.
Ayon will now undergo a period of rest, treatment and rehabilitation. He will be out through the remainder of the season.
At the time of his injury, Ayon had averages of 4.3 points on .510 shooting, 4.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 blocks in 16.5 minutes per game in 26 games (14 starts).
Gerald Wallace has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus, the Boston Celtics announced.
Brad Stevens said Wallace has played with pain for some time. Danny Ainge revealed Wallace is out for the remainder of the season.
Wallace is averaging 5.1 points this season.
Kendrick Perkins will be out up to six weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a left groin strain.
Perkins sustained the injury last Thursday against the Miami Heat.
Perkins has appeared in 54 games (all starts) averaging 3.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 19.7 minutes per contest.
Nene was diagnosed with a sprain of his left MCL on Monday and is expected to miss approximately six weeks for the Washington Wizards.
The injury to Nene's knee in Sunday night's game was feared to be potentially season-ending.
Nene has been a consistent presence this season for the Wizards, who are positioned to make the playoffs.
Nene has appeared in 49 games, averaging 14.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.24 steals in 30.1 minutes.
Nene suffered a left knee injury in Sunday night's win over the Cleveland Cavaliers and will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the ailment.
Nene's Washington Wizards teammates hoped for the best.
“It’s too early to say, but we’re all scared. We’re hoping it’s nothing serious,” Marcin Gortat said. “It was really hard. But we’ve seen that if we play good defense, if everybody is engaged and locked in, we are a good team. We kind of forgot that Nene was missing, and we’re glad we got that win.”
Nene is averaging 14.4 points and 5.8 rebounds this season.

Michael Malone stated Terry's status with the Kings on a local radio appearance.
Terry had knee surgery in the offseason and Malone said the veteran guard has not felt fully healthy this season. Terry was acquired in a three-player trade with the Brooklyn Nets.
The Kings have indicated they do not plan to buy out Terry's contract and the team plans to give more guard playing time to Ray McCallum and Ben McLemore.
LeBron James has been diagnosed with a broken nose.
The injury occurred on Thursday at Oklahoma City after James drove to the basket against Serge IBakawith 5:56 remaining in the fourth quarter. He will be a game-time decision for Miami's game on Sunday.
