Jodie Meeks Suffers Jones Fracture In Right Foot

Oct 30, 2015 10:34 AM

Jodie Meeks suffered a Jones fracture in his right foot in the Detroit Pistons' second game of the season.

Meeks missed the first six weeks of last season with a back injury that came after the first preseason game.

"You feel bad for the guy," Stan Van Gundy said. "Last year, it's the first exhibition game -- he plays one exhibition game and he goes out.

"And now he comes back in great shape, came off a really good last preseason game, and gets a fracture tonight. He's sort of snakebit right now, and I feel for him."

Martell Webster May Need Season-Ending Surgery On Hip

Oct 28, 2015 1:26 PM

Martell Webster may need to undergo season-ending surgery on his hip.

Webster had his first full practice on Tuesday and made it through pain-free but took one final shot and discomfort returned.

It has been determined that a bone spur is causing the constant aggravation in his right hip.

"When it gets to the point that nothing's happening, the hip's not getting better ... I don't know just go back to the drawing board and see if surgery is the best solution after exhausting all avenues," Webster said Wednesday from the floor of Amway Center.

Webster is in the final fully guaranteed season of his contract.

Derrick Rose Playing With Functionality In Just One Eye

Oct 28, 2015 10:54 AM

Derrick Rose is dealing with blurred vision as he continues his recovery from a fractured left orbital bone.

Rose hasn't been able to simply blink the eye back into focus.

"I wish it was a blink, but it's all the time," said Rose, who played 32 minutes and scored 18 points. "Like right now, I see two of you."

Rose had surgery Sept. 30 and has been wearing a protective mask the past few weeks.

Rose said he was keeping only his right eye open when on the court. But photos of game action show both eyes clearly open, with Rose's left eye lid slightly swollen.

"When I'm out there playing, I'm only using one of my eyes," Rose said. "I close my left eye whenever I'm out there. So I just got used to it from practice."

Kobe Bryant Sits Again With Leg Injury, Expected To Play In Opener

Oct 23, 2015 12:27 PM

Kobe Bryant missed his third straight preseason game with a lower leg contusion on Thursday.

But Bryant is still expected to play in the Los Angeles Lakers' regular season opener on Oct. 28th.

"There's no doubt in my mind [that he'll play in that game]," Byron Scott said before his team faced the Warriors on Thursday. "Talking to him [Thursday], he said he's just gearing up for Wednesday. I said, 'Good, because that's what I'm gearing up for as well.' There's no doubt in my mind. It will take a whole lot to keep him out of that game."

Bryant has had a season-ending injury in each of the past three years.

LeBron James Undergoes Injection In Back, Likely Out For Rest Of Preseason

Oct 16, 2015 11:52 AM

LeBron James received an injection in his back this week and is unlikely to play again in the preseason.

James received a similar anti-inflammatory shot in January when he was shut down for two weeks and responded so well that the plan was always for him to have another one at some point.

By receiving the injection now, James is unlikely to miss any significant time.

James has dealt with back problems the last couple of years, although no one seems to think it’s a significant issue at present.
