Players from around the league reacted to the news of DeMarcus Cousins tearing his ACL, with Draymond Green expressing the high hopes he had for Cousins coming into the season.

"One of my goals coming into this season was for DeMarcus to destroy everybody and come back and show how great of a player he is and get what I think he deserves. I'm really at a loss for words about it. It's one that really hurt me for sure," Green told Marc Spears of The Undefeated.

Steve Kerr also expressed his sadness over the injury, saying "I'm devastated for DeMarcus. It's been a couple of years of hell for DeMarcus. ... We are all crushed for him."

Heat Believe They Can Get John Wall Back To All-Star Level In Potential Trade

Aug 9, 2019 1:57 AM

There is "internal belief" within the Miami Heat organization that they could get John Wall back to his previous All-Star level should they trade for the point guard as part of a package for Bradley Beal, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Wall is likely to be out for this season as he recovers from an Achilles injury.

The Heat have been strongly linked with a trade for Beal should the Wizards decide to move on from the guard.

The Wizards are resisting trade offers for Beal amid a restructure of their front office.

Kevin Durant Doesn't Hold Warriors Responsible For Achilles Injury

Aug 7, 2019 8:28 PM

Kevin Durant spoke to the media for the first time in nearly two months as he sat down with Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports.

The first question Haynes asked Durant was whether he believed the Golden State Warriors mishandled his calf injury that eventually led to a torn Achilles.

“Hell, no. How can you blame [the Warriors]? Hell, no,” Durant told Yahoo! Sports. “I heard the Warriors pressured me into getting back. Nobody never said a word to me during rehab as I was coming back. It was only me and [director of sports medicine and performance] Rick [Celebrini] working out every day. Right when the series started, I targeted Game 5. Hell, nah. It just happened. It’s basketball. S--- happens. Nobody was responsible for it. It was just the game. We just need to move on from that s--- because I’m going to be back playing.”

Durant still replays that fateful night in Toronto.

“Yeah, I still think about that night,” Durant told Yahoo Sports. “Every experience I’ve been through in the league is obviously always ingrained in my mind, but that one is definitely always going to be a huge part of my career because it’s the biggest stage and the type of injury I had. But now I look at it as me just going out there playing basketball, and I happened to get hurt. And now I’m just waiting to get back. I know it’s a huge deal to everybody else, but I just try to take it on the chin and keep it moving.”

John Wall On Wizards Future: 'I Want To Play For One Organization'

Aug 4, 2019 6:35 PM

John Wall opened up about his recovery from an Achilles injury, telling Michael Lee of The Athletic that he wants one more chance to win with the Washington Wizards playing alongside Bradly Beal.

"I’m not one of those guys that wants to play for multiple teams. I want to play for one organization. If it comes down to it, where you have to move around, and it don’t work, they’re giving me the opportunity to come back, not this year but next year after, if I don’t play well, you trade me. I can’t be mad at nobody because they gave me the opportunity and I gave myself a chance to prove myself. That’s all I ask for," said Wall.

Wall said he and Beal "are brothers," adding that the two players can go toe-to-toe with any duo in the league.

Wall, who tore his Achilles last winter, also said that he knew Kevin Durant's injury was in his Achilles and not his calf as reported.

"I know what a calf strain is like. I know what an Achilles injury is like. When you look back like that, I knew it was an Achilles injury from the start. I can’t diagnose what those doctors said. But if you look where he was icing his leg, it was the Achilles the whole time."
